5 x 5 do you pyramid the wieghts or stay with the same wright through out the set.
I'
ve been working out for years to no avail. I guess I'm doing something wrong.

I would stay in the 6-8 rep range and do 4-5 sets. Do 1 set of 8, 3 sets of 6 and possible 1 more set of 8. I would stick with the same weight when doing sets of 6 and then when you can do sets of 8 with good form at that same weight, I would move up 2 1/2-5lbs. depending on what your gvm has available.

Especially if your new to weight lifting you shouldn't do too many sets (more than ten) because it can lead to overtraining. You can make good gains on 6-9 sets per body part with 2 different exercises. It works well for me.

I've been at this game for a few years now.
I'll stick to the 4-6 reps range. It seems to work well. I was just curious what everyone else did.
