Its about ballistic training, when you drive the weight up as fast as you can.
On some muscle groups, I've noticed that I have pretty much no explosiveness at all. Like for calves, it usually takes me about the same time or alittle longer to raise the weight up, than to lower it. My tempo is 3-0-3.5, even for the first few reps. No matter how hard I try I can't lift any faster. Should I lower the weight and work on exploding the weight up, I read it recruits a maximum amount of fast-twitch power fibers, or should I just keep doing what I'm doing. I'm still progressing in weight and reps right now.
