My Question is are there any BodyBuilding Books Geared specially for Ectomorph which covers everything from eating to training with a timetable.

Im 18 62, 187 There are so many Books and mags out there to chose from Im quite lost. My goals are to put on at least 10 pd in the next 3 months naturally as I need a good foundation and from what I heard listening on this board I should wait.

Im willing to emerge my whole life, sweat blood tears and all into the world of BodyBuilding but just need someone to point me in the right path.

i too have a naturally thin, lean body. I can't give you any specific timetables or training routines but i can tell you what has worked well for me...

EAT like a MUTHERFUCKER, eat until your full and then eat some more. thats the only thing that worked for me, i was able to put on a lot of muscle just by eating and lifting consistently. We ectomorphs have naturally fast metabolisms thus we need to put in more calories then our body can metabolise. JUST EAT, honestly thats the best advise i can give you, eat everything!!!

As to training i would recommend the max ot routine. Basically it's comprised of low reps of compound movements. I suggest you look it over

Also don't be afraid to put on a little fat. Consider all this your bulking routine and once you've reached you desired weight or look, go on a cutting routine

I recommend Beyond Brawn. Beyond Brawn was specifically designed for hardgainers, but it can be used by anybody. If you decide to get Beyond Brawn, order it through their company at www.hardgainer.com
This book usually goes out of stock and it's very hard to get through book stores. I also recommend Mike's Mentzer's books, Heavy Duty and Heavy Duty II. I'll give you basic information about training for ectomorphs.

Train each body part intensely once per week and do only one 20 minute cardio session a week. You naturally have a fast metabolism and this keeps you from putting on mass.
Eat 6-7 meals a day, be sure to replace 3 of them with an MRP or a protein powder. It's very difficult to get all of your protein from solid foods. Use a good quality protein powder, like Pro Fusion by Muscle Link or Pro Peptide by Dorian Yates Approved. You can check out information about Pro Fusion at www.netrition.com
and you can check out Pro Peptide at www.prosourceonline.com

Mens health.com sent me some of those books that they give ya for free if u sign up, but if decide u dont want to then ya send back the card saying cancel and keep the books. Ya might wanna try that, if not email me and I can just scan the ectomorph section on my computer and email it back. Let me know.

There's a small section about ectomorph training in Arnold's BB Encyclopedia. But keep in mind there isn't a huge difference in training principles between ectomorphs and non-ectomorphs. Just make sure you EAT like the others guys were telling you and keep cardio to a minimum. Another thing don't spend too much time kicking your own ass in the gym, ectomorphs don't respond as well to marathon workouts. So keep your training relatively short and intense with heavy weights and low reps. Good Luck

An EXCELLENT book is Brawn and Beyond Brawn by Stuart McRobert. Also check out Hardgainer magazine at http://www.hardgainer.com They will change your whole outlook on natural training.

pete is right. just eat man. i use to have problems putting on muscle mass so i ate like a mofo and lifted like no other. eat when your full and if you can't eat anymore, just look at the food, till you can't look at it anymore, then you think about it... get the point.

yeah but your also forgeting that even ectos can put on fat and usually its in the stomach and love handles giveing a spare tire look. im an ecto too and i was eating like crazy but my training wasnt right and i ended up putting on fat in my stomach and lower back, and my pants size went from a 32 to a 36 so you gotta make sure to do cardio once in a week like the dude said. also situps like a mofo

Depends on how fast your metabolism is. For a lot of pure ectomorphs it's physically impossible to get fat..

Thanks Mates, I'm really overwhelmed at all the replies My post has generated. I bought Beyond Brawn today, which gathering from all your posts is the overwhelming favorite.

It's quite large book but I hope to start next week and am crossing my fingers for all those ponds of muscle.

Cheers

I was 135 @ 5'11" so that would put me in the ectomorph slot. 14 or so months later I am 220 (15%)@ 6'. To do this I followed these rules:
1. If you are not getting fat you are not eating enough.
2. Not getting stronger every workout=overtraining.
3. Forget cables, dumbells and machines.
4. never go over 8 reps.

I have a lightning metabolism too and I could never get good gains until I started getting enough protein and jamming calories down my throat. Just eat like an SOB and take protein every day.
