Tony: I think that ACSM without question is the best certification. You must pass a written and practical. They have a doctor there listening to bp and checking heart rates along with you. Also, it's important to learn how to develop baselines for your clients. You learn how to perform sub-max bike tests, bodyfat test, flexibility, muscular strength and endurance tests. The next in line is NSCA and ACE...just my opinion...have been certified by ACSM and ACE. ------------------ IP: Logged |

2big that's awesome that John Parrillo has started a new one. My opinion is that he's pretty much the man when it comes to sports nutrition and training (not to mention bodybuilding). I credit him with helping me build my body but also by providing me with great data for diet and workouts. His fascial stretch technique is a true blessing and many a sports injury can be aided in healing and prevention of re-injury when properly applied. I agree that ACE is good, but it seemed a bit remedial in some areas. That may not be the case, since I've heard they are the only non-profit organization. ACSM is good if you want to go further and work in conjunction with doctors and physical terrorists (oops...I mean...therapists). Although I'm not a personal trainer, I can vouch that the material in both the CSCS and ACSM programs is geared for attaining an advanced state of knowledge. I will check out Parrillo's program, and I'm expecting it to be more hands-on and in line with my particular field. Thanks for the tip. IP: Logged |
