I'm doing abs 3x a week.. whats a good routine to get a six pack?

I always start with lower abs becuase lets face it, they are the hardet part to get ripped. and also the part thet get mostly neglected. i do 2 sets of hanging leg raises, supersetted with knee tucks. i do reps untill failure..wich ususally means 15 reps or so.

then we move to the obliques, here i also do 2 exercises, but no supersets. first i do side crunches (http://www.gymamerica.com/www/exercise/demos/demo_popup/0,1976,321,00) 1 set in each side. followed by alt side crunches. the ones where you lay on you back, and bend one knee and place the ankel on the other foot on it.

Finally, the upper abs, these uscles usually needs the least work. i do 2 sets of crunches.

All sets are to failure..and you should sqeeze for a three count on the top of every rep, that way you wont be able to finish ore than 15 reps max...

one of my favorite AB exercises is the cable crunches. They really give them a good workout. Just remember, ABs are a muscle just like any other and should be worked accordingly.

Upper and lower abs? I dont buy that. The abs are 1 long muscle with tendons running along it. Working the upper abs is like saying Im gonna work my upper biceps. (My opinion)
My ab routine that has proved to work is
Hanging leg raises
Cable crunch

This is basically it. Some times I would add cable spins or crunches. But the abouve is basically it. 1-2 x per week

hmm..interesting opinion Steelheart. but the point is that no exercise puts strain on the whole ab area...thats why its divided into lower, upper and obliques.

Steelheart, there are different parts of the abs that can be worked. One movement isn't going to directly hit every part of the abs. You're always working every abdominal muscle when you do a crunch, but you're mainly hitting the upper abs. It's like saying that the bench press is the same as the Incline Press. Yeah right. You're working every part of the chest when doing the Bench Press, but you're basically targeting the mid chest. If you keep on doing regular bench presses, your mid chest is going to fill out and if you have no upper chest developement, it's going to look like you have tits. Incline Bench Press works the upper chest. As for your information, there are also different parts of the biceps that can be worked with different exercises. Preacher curls can help fill in that gap near the elbow. I know that, because I used to have that gap and I started doing preacher curls and I filled it in fully in about two years of hard work. Sorry if I did sound insulting or angry. I don't want my post to come across like that. Happy training.
