I wouldnt lift weights until a couple more years. Do pushups and pullups and situps and run. I was in the military and that was all we did and I got in the best shape of my life. You can do everything I said twice a week and run three times a week.

Yes! you can go to the gym. Since your just staring out, it would be great if you had someone who knew how to guide you and could go to the gym with you so you could start learning the proper form of different exercises. I started at 14 and I belonged to a weight lifting club in high school. There the coach showed me a variety of exercises and how to do them properly. We also went over anatomy and some training principles. I spent all 4 years of high school in that club and it gvae me a solid background. Now I have been lifting for 16 years and I don't plan on stopping!

If there's not anything like that at your school, then read all you can about exercise. Also just hang out at a local gym. By watching others you will start to learn proper form. But don't just watch 1 person, watch a number of people do the same exercise. If you only watch 1, and if he/she has bad form, then you will learn bad form.

Good luck!

Lets not get into another argument about age..lets just support whatever decision our fellow brothers decide on...

My son is 16yrs old and I only allowed him to lift after his doctor OK'ed it. (that was at age 12 1/2). The stipulation from the doctor was not to allow him to go heavy because his bones are still developing.
He has been able to do a very good starter level program and he soon will advance to an intermediate level of training.
If you are questioning your physical readiness check with your doctor....

I just came back form the NSCA conference in Florida. They had a seminar for junior training, and they claim that children can begin training at a very early age. The trick is that should mostly concentrate on motor skills, and not on strenght and mass gains. I completely agree with this, but feel that at 15 years old, you can now begin to train heavier.
