I have recently injured my shoulder playing basketball, and I believe that it is a bruised ligament. I have been nursing my shoulder for the past few days, and the pain is slightly going away. I was just wondering approximately how long of a break I should take off form the gym. I don't want to miss too much but I also do not want to injure my shoulder more.

Injuries suck! About a week ago I strained the rear head of my delt muscle arm wrestling a few guys. Tried doing shoulder routine a few days later and couldn't, so I've taken this whole week off. I'm going back in tomorrow hoping it's healed enough to let me get back in, however I can still feel it when I do movements that contract the rear head. I'm also am wondering whether I should take more time off or go into the gym anyways and just stay away from movements that aggervate that muscle? For your particular case, if you have bruised a ligament and it has only been a few days and still hurts, I would probably get pissed off and make myself stay out of the gym longer. It's a tough call sometimes, just listen to your body. Also does anyone have any suggestion for supplementing or remedies for a bruised or srained muscle? Hope I've helped any.

Thanks for the advice, I apprecaite it. well my shoulder is a lot better than it was a few days ago, but i still think I;m gonna take on more week off from working out, that way i know it will be fully ready to get back into gear. So thanks again, and I no still haven't found any supplement or vitamins for joint or ligament recuperation.
