what do you guys think the best lower chest excersize would be? i do
3 sets bench press
3 sets dumbbell flyes
3 sets dumbbell chest press
3 sets dips

decline dumbells
decline barbells
weighted dips

these three are aimed at lower pectorial development

your routine targets the lower pecs with every execise...you just gotta worry about the upper pec.

flat press works the same part of the chest as decline.

just look at an anatomy chart!

Cackerot although the pecs only really have two sections; the clavicular fibres (upper pecs) and sternal fibres (mid/lower pecs), it is possible to recruit more of the lower pecs than the middle pecs i.e. it is possible to emphasize different sections of the sternal fibres.

I do not have the correct explanation for this but I would assume it is related to the length of the muscle attachment to the sternum (the pecs are connected via aponeurosis, which is a sheet like tendon)

I cant imagine anyone needing to do this unless they were at an elite competative level however.

Tough question. People have been debating the value of declines for awhile. Currently I do flat bb bench, decline bb bench, and incline db bench. Anything gets stale so my best advice would be to keep switching exercises when you feel the time is right. I was never a big fan of declines but they've been working out nicely for the last month or so. I'd just go by feel.

work those dips til you can do em with 2 plates hanging from you. The lower pecs will come.
