To this day I've never been able to stab myself like "throwing a dart"...so what I do is prick myself with the needle first, and if it doesn't heart too bad, I will blast it in. Certain spots are generally less innervated than others, so consequently there is less pain. This is probably a worse technique in the long run because your ass starts to have track marks!
