It seems no matter what I do my lower abs refuse to tighten up. I do a ton of lower ab exercises and yet see no improvements. My upper abs are becoming visible but below my belly button I look 3 mos. pregnant! Also I notice that when I wake up in the morning my abs are flat all the way down but as soon as I start eating and digesting my lower abs begin to puff and bloat up...anyone else have this proublem? Any advice on what to do is appreciated as this is driving me nuts!

What is your current BF? And I know exactly what area your talking about. Is there a solution? Heck if I know, I'm stumped too. I think is more due to genetics than anything. During the last two weeks before a show a lady friend would get a bulge on her left lower ab about two hours after she ate. It fricking looked like a small tumor. We were both a bit rattled until the doc said that is was just the small intestine. It was a short section that just happen to be very close to the surface. So you may have to learn to accept the way the lower portion of your abs look. But I do have some advice - for working the abs, I have learned much from Paul Cheek. He has a web sight. I ordered a video and a small book a year or two ago. Had surgery and needed to get my stomach back into shape - still working that area too :p

It's just a fact of life for me as well. As long as I have regular bowel movements, eat clean, etc. ...no problem. But truth is, fluctuating hormones associated with ...being female makes that physical state more unusual than usual. I bloat over the course of the day; retain water as the day progresses; so forth and so on. To boot, I don't always react the same way to supplements such as protein drinks and vitamins. Hell, sometimes I do well with eggs and tuna. Sometimes eggs and tuna leave me with an ungodly scent.

I suspect that you would have other difficulties if you found a way to balance it all out, but just in case you do, please keep me in mind.

I've been giving it some thought and my guess is that the bloating has to be from my diet. Since it occurs in the area of my intestines I think it is excess gas from the digestion process. So, what I'm going to try is to buy some beano or gas pills and start eating them when I eat oat bran and other gas producing foods like beans and cabbage....hopefully this will work.I'm also going to do more lower abs exercises.....I'll keep it posted as to if its working for me so maybe you all would like to try it....
Any other solutions/suggestions are appreciated!

This is a problem for my wife also. We have noticed this. She solves alot of it by eat very small portion 7 / 8 times a day. She loves the way she looks in the morning.

Yes I believe the food does have alot to do with it. I would also ask if I may, have you had children? That is my case and it seems that no matter how lean I get, I still have this "kangaroo pouch" which comes from the excess skin. Alot of it will have to do with how large you got while you were pregnant. Some woman don't have to battle this problem and I am so envious. Look at Pamela Anderson Lee!!! I'm sure a few nips and cuts have helped her along the way too. My abs are tight, but for all women at some time in their life, the lower abs are the biggest problem to reduce.

No, I have not had any children. I just had my body fat tested today its 13%. I'm 5'7" at 130lbs. Perhaps if I get my body fat down to 10% it will help. I already eat small meals about 7 times a day which I think does help. I've just started taking the gas pills but am unsure yet to if they are helping to reduce the bloating in that area.
Thanks for eveyone's input, at least I know I'm not alone!

Hey sis,

I can't seem to remember where I read this, but it was about pelvis shape and size. There are three distinct forms, though most women are a combonation of the 3. One of them causes a "pouch" look, one a "black booty" look, and the third is very small which a lot of asian women have. It could be that the fat stores are the same there as everywhere else, but your BONE is pushing it out.

I personally have that problem with my pelvis. I am a combonation ecto/endomorph and my pelvis and bone structure in general is HUGE. Makes my love handles look enormous, but when you feel them, it's the same fat, just more bone.

I know exactly what you're talking about! In the morning I feel like I can just stand in the mirror forever but by the end of the day i steer clear of all mirrors because of that "pouch" or whatever you want to call it. There is one thing I noticed though, I never had this problem until i went on the pill - I don't know if that has anything to do with it but it's a thought.
