Use shaving cream and shave in the direction of hair growth. Use a washcloth to lightly scrub the area if irritation begins. That helps to combat ingrown hairs.

Happy kissing!

I use the clippers on my girl with no attachment. That way no razor burn or ingrown hairs, but it is damn short!

Shave in the direction of the hair, use shaving cream or baby oil, apply cortizone or a product called "tend skin" after shaving (it will sting for a minute).

The best advise it to tell her to use warm water and soap and rub the hair first, it loosens up the ingrown hair. ( No red bumps)
Then shave in the direction of the hair first just to trim it down or use an electric clipper. A small one, for like shaving the back of you neck. That usually get me close enough. Then just shave toward the hair growth. This will work. I've been doing it for years.

Oh boy.....I got a little crazy again, and I shaved with the razor (mach 3) "down there" to see if I would get razor burn, and yep, I have it. Usually, I just use the ol' hair clipper on a zero and it works really well with no irritation. Guess I was wanting the total soft feeling, hehehe. Well, now I got this damn razor burn crap and it aint too attractive if you ask me. BTW, i'm not a female. The twins are fine, its just that damn part above dad that causes the problems. This is the only place i ever get razor burn besides the chest area, and I haven't found anything that works yet. I'm gonna go to the dermatologist and ask for this antibacteria cream and see if that works. Some razor burn is due to microbacteria in the shower that gets on the razor, and if I am not mistaken, I think its psedudomonas (forgot which it is). Pouring rubbing alcohol on the razor will sometimes help in cleansing the blade. Any one get that cream and want to share results? Take it easy.

BTW, pornstar Jenna Jameson uses Neopsporin when she shaves, and says it works real well. I've tried putting it on after shaving but it is usually already too late. I think she meant that she uses it as her shaving cream. Anyway, I am gonna try this on the next chest shave day. Later.

I've shaved for many many years now. I actually do opposite of what everyone else is saying. I shave in the direction of the hair growth (gets a close shave and is smoother) The skin needs to be in hot or the warm water for a few minutes first. I never shave right off the bat when in the shower. Also, when my razor is going dull, I get the little red "zit" bumps. Once my disposable razor has been used maybe 4 times, I throw it away.

For someone who has never shaved before, I think razor burn will be a given the first time or two. Your skin there is sensitive and will need to get use to it. (maybe shave in the direction of hair growth the first time)

There are products you can buy over the counter that are made for bikini razor burn!

Whenever I shaved "down there", I was guaranteed to have red bumps. In order to get rid of them I now take a hot shower, then when I get out use shaving cream and shave with the hair growth. Then I rinse the area with really cold water (and I mean cold!) Since I have done this I never get the bumps. Plus I stay soft.

I'm an adult model (okay porn). I used to wax, painfull but really works best. Then I just had it removed with a laser (Epi-light) no hair for about a year now.

I tried waxing for the first time last year, and liked the results so much I went in for a full Brazillian bikini wax. (The first wax I had was only in front.) Anyway, I found the results from waxing are great, smooth, soft, looks perfect. I like the short little strip up the middle, not "everything". Unfortunately, the hair starts to grow back immediately, so within 5-6 days (for me, anyway) you have enough stubble to itch like crazy. They tell you it lasts for 3-4 weeks, and I thought that meant the hair is completely gone for that length of time - not true. It apparently just means it's too short to wax again in that amount of time. They can't do the wax unless the hair is long enough for the wax to grab. The chick who had her appt right before mine got sent away because her hair was too short. So if you've been shaving, and want to try a wax, you'll have to let it grow out some before they can even do it. Also, it's pricey, around $35+ per wax.

I didn't want to lose the look once I had it, so I started shaving to keep the area smooth. For some reason, it was only the front that grew back right away, the area down lower stayed away much longer and grew back finer. The shaving worked fine for a month or so, then I developed the red bumps, and that was so UNattractive that I let everything grow back to get rid of them. I found a "One Touch" home electrolysis kit at Osco, and tried that - DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. It was useless. Didn't work, and very difficult even to see where your hair grows out of the pores to poke the little wire into. You're supposed to slide a little tiny wire down into the actual hair follicle, then turn on the electric current for 15 seconds, then pull the hair out with tweezers, and it's supposed to slide right out. I couldn't even get the wire into the hair follicle.

Sooo... I'm very interested in the last post! I'll have to check out that laser treatment.

one thing i found is important on this topic is using a sigle blade razor not a double or triple...you end up shaving a bit more ferequently but because the single blade doesn't pul the hiar up from below and then cut againand again you don't get teh burn and bumps...also sensitive skin shaving cream and bacitracin are my friends...
