My husband has read a few articles about sprint training and is very interested in incorporating it into our workouts.

Was wondering if anyone has tried this? If so what are your opinions on it? Does it really work?

How do you set up a workout? For example How many times do you sprint in one workout? How far do you sprint? 1/4 of a mile or longer? Have asked a few people but no seems to know much about it. Just that its suppose to be an explosive workout with great results in a short period of time.

So I have decided to ask the ALL KNOWING board members.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I incorporated some sprint work into my cardio this summer just to be outside for some training. What I did was sprint from one telephone pole to the next. Then I would walk the next set. Sprint, walk, etc. I'm sure I looked pretty silly in retrospect but it was one helluva a workout. For the sprinting part I would dig hard, sprinting the whole way as fast as possible--definitely not jogging. I did this for a time period (started out at 30 minutes--worked up to about 45) rather than for a distance. It was a nice change of pace from the stair climber. I did it twice a week just for a cardio substitute. The only problem with this is that you can't do this after leg day. At least I couldn't--hell I have a hard time sitting on the toilet after legs--let alone sprint.

Yup, great stuff, wife and (sometimes) I would do them. Sprint, rest (walk) sprint again, puke, rest, sprint... you get the point.

Make sure you sprint a good 60+ yards.

I knew I would get an answer.

Thank you so much for the responses. Now I know what we need to do.

Thanks again.
