i was just wondering how much am i suppossed to take of CoQ10 for antioxidant effects and for how long a period of time? They sell in 10mg, 30mg, and 100mg, so i'm confused as to what doseage i need, and how long can i take. And also does it matter at what time i take, with or without food?
thanks

CoQ10 is a fantastic supplement as I'm sure you already know. For basic antioxidant protection against free radicals, 50 mg a day will suffice. However, if you have a history of heart disease or cancer in your family I'd up the dose to 100 mg per day. I have a personal history of malignant cancer, so I take at least 200 mg per day. If I ever get cancer again (if it comes back), I'll up the dose to at least 400mg per day like I did when I was on chemotherapy.
You don't have to cycle this nutrient, you can take it every day for the rest of your life safely.
I'll quote one of the smartest medical researchers in the world who has an immense knowledge of CoQ10:

"If I made sure every person in America took 50 mg of CoQ10 every day, in 15 years the number of heart attacks and cancer incidences in this country would be cut in half."

That's a bold statement, and one that cannot easily (or even possibly) be substantiated, but when someone with top credentials says something like this I tend to listen.

thanks for the info. I know you posted that there are no side effects to it, i'm just a bit skeptical however. Other than antioxidant are there any other benefits to it?

CoQ10 has been studied extensively for improving the health of the heart, lowering high blood pressure, lowering the risk of heart attack and stroke, treating gum diseases such as gingivitis, preventing and even treating certain types of cancers, as an energy supplement, and just plain living longer.
Although these studies have not proven it to be capable of treating these things, it has been shown to be effective at least in the research.
Dr. Karl Folkers, the man who pioneered the use of CoQ10 as a dietary supplement, conducted research on it for many years and said that he was not aware of any side effects at all even when taken at much higher levels than the therapeutic doses. However, he did say that he noted on occasion that pregnant women who took it had a little more nausea than ordinary when they took high doses of it. I've used it for 2 years now taking no less than 100mg per day and my life has been all the better for it.

I hope that helps.
