I conveniently went into Wal-mart and found the cheapest Milk thistle I could find. Anyone hear negativity about Sundown products?

This might get a flame or two, but I wouldn't really go with a standardized herbal product (with the exception of a couple). Standardizing herbs is not exactly what nature had intended. If you were talking about some sort of prohormone or other muscle building supp, then you have to weigh the risks. However, with something that is intended to cleanse the liver such as milk thistle, I'd go with the real deal product and go straight to the grower (since from them you can be relatively sure that you're getting what you pay for--i.e., no fillers or other additives). It won't be hard to find them, just do a search on the internet. You should be able to find an herb grower who can provide you with an ounce (about 50 capsules) for about 2 dollars or less---this goes for many other herbs such as ginseng and gingko to name a couple. Of course, you have to get your own capsules and do the job yourself with a capsule-filler, or else do them by hand, which is a little more tedious, but get the job done just the same. You also have to buy your own capsules too. A bag of 100 at GNC costs about 4 bucks, however, you can go to the 99 cents clearance rack there and buy a bottle of whatever you like herbs that contain 100 caps and voila! 100 caps for .99. Of course you have to empty out whatever was in them before. But overall, you can have the best natural herbs available for about 3 or 4 dollars by using the above method. I'm a cheap dude no lie! At any rate, just a suggestion.
As far as the brand sundown, I'm not convinced they really know what they're doing with many of their supplements. I bought 50 tablets of Alpha Lipoic Acid from them and took them for awhile and didn't see any results like I normally would. I checked with someone who has participated in some of the research on ALA and she told me that ALA degrades in the presence of oxygen. So the product I'd been taking was essentially worthless. Just my opinion.

They did some research on milk thistle and found it effective. Wish i knew what they used to administer the herb. I would think it fair to say many products are sensative to heat, pressure, or light. Take Mu huang. I can definately tell in ripped fuel that the herb kicks in as well as in other products so there are some redeeming value to the over the counter processed herb, but maybe not all. I hear what you are saying though, I'll keep looking.
