I just noticed something.. every single Protein powders in my GNC don't have expiration dates on them. Is this ok? I've been buying a lot of Twinlab's Super Whey Fuel recently and they don't got the expiration dates

I used to work at GNC, and the powders, MRP's and EVERYTHING should most definately have an expiry date!
If it doesn't, go back and bitch at them!
Whey definately isn't good forever. It, like most products are good six months after the expiry date printed. I know this because while I worked there I often bought expiring stuff at a fraction of the cost, and as long as you consume it within six months of the date, it's fine.
At any rate, figure out when your stuff expires, because nobody at GNC will tell you that the tub of protein [be it Twinlab, or their own, or anything else] you just picked up is going to expire soon, unless it is specifically on sale. Their old product and new stock are side-by-side on the shelves, so unless you see the date or ask, you have NO WAY WHATSOEVER of telling wether you've just picked up new stock or something months old.

Most companies just put the production date, but usually no expiration. Who knows? I'll put a plug in for the protein factory, you ask them when it's produced and for how long it's good for and they'll tell you.

yeah i can notice physically if ive drank bad protein. a couple years ago i was working at gnc and i got 10 jugs of ratio carb/protein powder for 10cents a piece cause they were way over the expiration date. they gave me the absolute shits! i mean every time i went to the bathroom i shit out water. now i had drank this stuff before and it did not do this to me, so the only conclusion i could come up with was the expiration fact. i say that if a protein that never gave you problems before but now gives you stomach cramps and has you shit'n everywhere-then it might be expired. thats my theory.

Unfortunately, that's probably as good a guess as any.

I would say, in general, though, to avoid most GNC products, for despite what they might have you believe, their quality control is not that great.

I've found vitamin C tabs mixed in with my multivitamin bottles, a bottle of probiotics that had a bunch of capsules half-full, or open [they also don't refrigirate their probiotics!], bottles with cracked lids, etc, etc, etc...

You're probably better off sticking to smaller, local stores. I work at such a store now [on the weekends], and the owner takes much more care to insure proper storage, never stocking shelves with anything about to expire. When it's somebody's personal business, they are much more likely to actually care about the product that moves through it.
