my car won't start. i know that i should use jumper cables, but i am planning to drive 70 miles in temperature that is -10 with the wind chill factor. should i jump start the car, or will it just break down every few miles, considering the weather and the fact that the car isn't in the best condition anyway.

If you can get a jump and get the car running. You won't have any problems as long as your battery is good. The battery starts the car. When running the alternator generates the power and keeps the battery charged.

So you should get the jump, run the car for 15-30 minutes and then shut it off. If it starts you should be OK. If not you should get a new battery.

I leave my lights on all the time and getting a jump gets me up and running. Haven't had to replace the battery yet....
