Which work best for deads, shrugs and pulldowns? I need some help on this......

I don't use them until the very last left in a set. Try to avoid using them or you will become dependent upon them.

Chalk. Anything else and you might as well not bother doing the exercise since your hands and forearms will be doing almost no work.

only if i start to slip will i use a strap.. i can probably get away with chalk in the freeweight section, but not on the pulldown machine.

i dont use them. if you use them you'll never build up strength in your grip and forearms

Straps. Grip and forearm strength are great, but I'm working my back and lower body. I'm not about to let my grip and forearms be a limiting factor. I do my warm-ups and first couple sets without straps, followed by heavy sets with straps. Besides straps leave about 40 percent of the load on your grip, they don't take it all the way out. If you aspire to PL, then don't use anything but chalk. If you bodybuild, use straps if you are lifting any sizeable weight.

I only use Straps, When I can not hold the weight, for example

My Close Grip Row at 200lbs I cannot hold without straps,

But when I do my last set with 180 I can hold it without So I use nothing,

That is only lift I need straps for. Everything else I go without.

i use straps when i do deads and shrugs. the grips on the dumbells are really worn out at the gym i work out at so i use them to help my grip...
