my friend Kevin and I decided to "compete" against each other in bench, squat, dead.

he's 5'5.5" 160lbs
I'm 5'7" 190lbs (yeah I know were both shrimps)

I want to know if these are impressive lifts for anyone who has powerlifted.

BENCH
kevin: 305lbs!!!!!!
valdez: 295lbs
SQUAT wide stance ATF
kevin: 335lbs
valdez: 435lbs (my legs are the reason he ways so much less, he's got a freaking f. columbu upperbody.
DEADLIFT
kevin: 375lbs
valdez: 505lbs (I was pleased, for the most I ever pulled before this was 455 a while ago)

KEVIN: 1015lbs @ 160 !!
VALDEZ: 1235lbs @ 190

these are real numbers that we competed for. I have never been to a powerlifting meet, but am slightly interested. I am afraid that as a hobby it would be to hard on the joints. Bodybuilding is funner for variety (at least for me)

does anyone have any comments?

That's pretty damn impressive.. i'm 5'8" at 180, and I'm sure I can't lift nearly the amounts you all were doing.

We is depends. Are you lifting in the teenage, juniors 20-23, or adult?

If it is your first meet you would enter the below class 3 and you might place or win with those totals. If you entered the teenage open class you would 18-19 year old group you would both need to at 200lbs to your totals to place.

wow. pretty strong dudes. how deep do they let you go on squats? we were going just parallel, but for short guys like us ATF is parallel! haha.

well our form may or may not have been satisfactory for powerlifting, like I said I'm more into BB and I have never watched a meet.

no one at our gym is even close to deisel, so it's hard to gauge.

That 435 full squat is very impressive. I'm a midget lifter too (5'5") and actually can lift more in the ass-to-floor than the parallel powerlifting style. What is your vert?

Those are very impressive

When i was in high School
11th grade i was 15 (i know i was young i skipped 4th)

any way my first competition i was
6' 195
my 3 lifts were as follows

Squat 525
dead 535
bench um um i dont want to say 195 (no flames please)

so you have some good lifts
i actually won the competiton cause when i weighed in 200 on the button
drank 2 gallons of water before weigh in

cause with there scoring system it was bettter to be at teh bottom of the weight bracket

any way i won my first comp despite a 195 bench...pitiful

anyway keep pressin' bro
