I know you all got sick of election posts, and so did I. The entire process is making me sick. Seriously - all this debate about a piece of paper (forever known as the infamous "chad").

The recounts are ongoing in Florida, and I have been watching somewhat - I guess you could say I am "curious yet disinterested" in the process. I sighed when Jesse Jackson went down to Florida. I laughed when Fidel Castro called for international monitoring of US elections, and volunteered to send Cubans.....you all heard the same shit I did.

But I heard something today that was the most ridiculous - and disappointing - thing to come out of this to this point:

In Palm Beach county, hand recounts are ongoing, as you know. Republican and Democratic officials are looking at ballots attempting to determine what the voters intended. Although somewhat weird, this is not news.

What si news is this: indistinguishable ballots are placed into a "questionable" pile. After counting all the others, it was announced that the procedure for handling those "questionables" was for the party representatives to "haggle over votes".

The two reps will look at the ballot and basically have a pissing contest about what the voter wants.

That is the established procedure - haggling over votes. Here, now: the year 2000 in the crowning civilization of mankind (regarding technological advances anyway), and we are "haggling over votes".

This is disappointing, whoever wins.

Matt,

That is an interesting point to bring up.

The sad truth of the matter is that most people will not be surprised by the "haggling". I am just waiting for special interest groups to get involved.

i understand a group of techno nerds has purchased some type of platform in the north sea, and are setting up their own government.

The purpose of that platform was originally to have a haven for web servers immune to any government regulations, however a small island purchased from the bahamas would be much more pleasant.

I'm buying an island! (i wonder how much they cost).. note to self.. make sure no volcanos are on it.

JohnnyO,

The Bahamas and other areas need networking solutions. Let's go.

Remember what Stalin said:

"In an election, those who cast the votes dont elect, those that count them do"

------------------
"If you stand by the river long enough, you will watch the bodies of your enemies float by"
