My job is cool that it is done over the net. I can live anywhere. Personally, I like a med-large city. Good country with mountains near and water near. Right now I am in San Fran. Fort Lauderdale have all been mentioned by friends. What does the board think???     | ||

I live in atlanta, though I go to Lauderdale two weeks each month, and I go to London for the summer each year. As a DBA, all my work is over the internet too. Nothing like sitting on the beach with my lap top. | ||

Yes, not having to be at a job is awesome...but, the late nights and weekend stuff and the never really be away from work is tough... I am not sure where I should move, I just know I am leaving San Fran by years end... | ||

well I have never been to San Fran, would love to go, why are you unhappy with it. What are your interests, that would help in knowing where to suggest. I thought of actually going up to NYC when my contract ends to get a job (as the salaries in NYC is a lot higher because the cost of living is higher) and then just taking the big salary and coming back to telecommute from home in Atlanta. One thing about not going to the office, you get extra sleep, you can do your laundry during the day, I vacuum and dust while my scripts are executing, I can take long lazy lunches and do cardio work at the gym, get off and not have to sit in gridlock traffic. | ||

I really like San Fran. It is an awesome city. I just want to see the whole country. I want to visit other top cities and live there for a year as well. I make the same money no matter where I live. In San Fran, a shitty studio is 2k/month. A 2 bedroom like I have with parking is 3200/month. That gets a lot more home in other areas. | ||

Any place is better then fuckin ohio  But, one of my favorite places was when I took my g/f (now my ex) to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. We stayed for a week, and it was probably one of the best weeks Ive ever had. As long as Im near the ocean...im happy | ||

I am an Oracle DBA. The rent in Atlanta is fairly reasonable. You can get a two bed 2 1/2 bath townhome for about $1500 a month, that is in Midtown close to everything. I would live no other place than Midtown. In Ft. Lauderdale, it is about 1/2 that, unless you are right on the ocean, then a 2 - 21/2 is about $1100 a month. | ||

COME TO AUSTIN BRO!! I'll have room on the couch, its all good. I've never live outside of Texas, but I do know that if you come to Texas, you must live in Austin, there is no other choice. The only trouble is that traffic is pretty brutal and rent is high because hundreds of thousands flock to Austin every year to get a piece of the Pie. But your in San Fran right now so I'm assuming the rent your are paying right now is ridiculous so Austin will be a decline in rent. We are a hightech city, everyone is running their business on the internet, everyone has a cellphone, everyone is highclass, {not to many ghetto gangster shitheads fucking shit up like in Houston} Its a beautiful city, lots of hills, not flat, got a nice lake, but the best part is the party scence. 6th street is nationally known as a party spot, its a street with about 30 bars and clubs, ITS LIKE FUCKING MARDI GRA EVERY WEEKEND, nothing but fine ass college girls struting from bar to bar!!. Weather is nice, not too cold, it never snows or freezes, not too hot {execpt for the summer, damn thats ridiculous} Austin is in the Middle of Texas, you are close to any other city you want-- Spurs--1 hour away We are the live music city of the Nation, come down and visit!!!! ------------------ | ||

How About Boca Raton FLA? 20 min. to Ft. Lauderdale, 45 min. to Miami. 1.5 hours to the Keys, 20 min to Palm Beach, and a 20 min. flight to the Bahamas. I can swim and scuba dive year round | ||

Natymike: One of my bros that lives here in Atlanta is from Austin and says pretty much what your saying. I'm definitely taking a trip out there sometime next year to check out the party scene. If I see what I like I may have to move out there. |
