Yeah they had their whole life to save for their retirement but the fucking gov't took their money and promised them they would be taken care of. Hello, they were lied to and just didn't know it. What the hell was social security for? medicare and medicaid? I pay shit loads of money to these programs and there ain't no way hell they could ever cover the cost of a hospital stay or prolonged treatement or retirement. Shag, Stop spewing this pointless rhetoric and wake up. Medicare and Medicaid drive the prices up for hospital and drug costs. They know the gov. will pay so they price leech the hell out of the patients. How else can you explain my sister's $12,000 hospital bill for 3 days? This is very well documented, when these programs went into effect the price went through the roof. The only government for the people is a Libertarian government. By dumping welfare not only do you encourage bums to work, you encourage bums to have friends. Sure there will be charities, but a great friend would be nice to have in a pinch. The government has proven they can do nothing more efficient than the people. All the government does is waste, waste, waste, and continue to take our rights away. The war on drugs has failed miserably and our tax dollars keep getting pumped into a program that could literally send me to jail. Do you call this a government made by and for the people? I sure as hell don't! | ||

Shagwell, I AM a disabled veteran. Every month I get a check from the government because of this. It does not come from the Social Security trust fund. It comes from the Department of Veterans' Affairs. How this country treats its Veterans is another issue. Please do not include disabled veterans in your claims unless you have even a hint of a clue of what you are talking about. In other news, I live in new York. I voted for Lazio. Hillary got elected based on campaigning to her traditional strengths - blacks, Jews, and unions. She spent the weekend before the election visiting 7 black churches, and apparently they voted for her in big numbers. But it's all a lie - most of these same families will be in a similar socioeconomic predicament in 6 years when her term ends. You can support whoever you want. But if you were in NY and watched the campaign transpire, you'd probably feel a little different. This woman rode into the Senate on the backs of people she doesn't give a shit about. Fuck her. | ||

I am a veteran. I still have my ability to earn a living and save, and if I flounder it is my fault no one elses. If I was injured while in the military they pay me a pension based on the serverity of my injury. I was injured on active duty and I rate 10% of the highest base pay earned in the Marines. You know what? I turned it down, because someone else can use that money who is worse off. Don't spout off to me about veterans there darling unless you are willing to pick up a rifle and pack and hump your ass into combat and are prepared to give your life for this country. Shag, how much percantage of the votes did they get .4%, but they got about 5% of the votes from 18-29 year olds in GA (the future) with no campaigning in a corrupt system. Your statement speaks volumes for your knowledge of the political process. The goal of voting is not to pick a winner, it is to pick the candidate that best conforms to your belief system. I am embaressed to call myself American after yesterday's election. People forgot that the system is designed to pick a candidate, not to vote against the most evil candidate. If you believe a vote to keep someone else out of office will make more difference in the long run over voting for the candidate you believe in then I DARE YOU to show me evidence of that. It has been and is a majority 2 party system From here the system will go in one of 2 directions. Either fuse into 1 party until this nation eventually falls to communism, or we will break free and go back to the Libertarian system. BTW, they are pro-choice shag. Great point Man-O-War. Another point I'd like to mention is that when the Libertarian party starts getting 5-8% in national elections, you are going to see a snowball effect. People like Shags who only jump on the bandwagon when someone has a chance to win will start to take notice. I predict the Libertarian party's growth something like this: 2004 - 5% in presidential election, first Libertarian Senate member 2008 - 15% more senate and house seats 2012 - 20%+ serious contendors for the White House 2016 - White House victory This depends on alot of factors. This assumes a best case scenerio, basically the LP starts getting into debates on national TV, etc. I know I can't predict the future, but this is my optimistic view of what is possible. They are to represent the will of the people and I believe our founding fathers are pissing in their graves right now. Why did you vote democratic? I am kinda confused on that one. But let me say this no matter what your party affiliation, as long as you vote this way or that because that is the way you always have or your parents tell you to vote that way, then there will never be the change the American people are looking for. As for the military, you said the government abandoned us military veterans. Wrong, in fact because of them I was able to buy my first house, brand new and bigger than I could have ever afforded by going with a conventional loan. In fact I would never have been able to have bought house if it were not for the VA loan. The Marines and the VA have never abandoned me and never will. | ||
