My dog died. My dad and stepmom decided to have her put to sleep today. They held it off as long as possible, but couldn't do it anymore. It was just a matter of time. She was in alot of pain and they did what they feel is in the best of interest of her. I agree w/ them cause I hate to see animals in pain like she was. My whole life my dog was in my family somehow and it feels weird that shes gone. House seems different. Kinda puts things in a new perspective somehow.

Rex the passing away of a family pet is a horrible experience. I had to put my Bloodhoud of 8 years to sleep a couple of months ago and it sucked. I feel your pain. But I will always remember her. Now I have a new hound and while it is not the same it helps alleviate the empty feelings. But my prayers go out to you.

I'm gonna miss her, but it had to be done. Past 2 months or so she could only walk in clockwise circles and would get stuck in the corners. Then her eyes closed over and she only had enough strength to pull herself w/ her front paws and would cry in the middle of the night cause of the pain she was in. After my stepmom told me I just stared at the dog for a half hour. Fuck bringing my hockey schedule into work. Just sat there, watched her and obsorbed every second of it b/c I had the chance to say goodbye. Makes me appreciate stuff a little more than before. My family, friends, the 20 second conversation I had w/ the hot chick who sits in front of me in Algebra II today. I appreciate all that more than I did earlier. I really wish that people would get the chance to realize how precious time is and once its gone its gone and ain't ever coming back. Damn shame we realize this only after its too late.

Rex,

I am so sorry bro I have two dogs. I would not be able to make it through my day without being able to be with them.

MY old dog died seven years ago.

What really helped get me through it was I went out and bought a new dog.

It helped me get through it and now I care about that dog in the same way I did for my old one

Thanx guys.
I really feel bad for my stepmom cause she had to write the check out for it and sign the consent papers. It has to be one shitty feeling to know that with a single signature you can take a life and to have to actually follow through w/ it must be 1000 times harder. I didn't go to the vet, couldn't bring myself to go. I wanted to, but just couldn't.
It really pisses me off how some people can treat their pets like shit. A couple of weeks ago I almost pulled a WCP a kicked some guys ass for abusing his dog. The dog, wasn't on a leash, and chased a squirrel into the street outfront of my house. The squirrel got crushed by a truck and the dog was fine. The guy then grabbed his dog and proceeded to beat him repeatedly. I came from out back and was about to go over there and say something, but the dickhead put the dog on a leash and left. All they ask for is love and give it back unconditionally. That dick didn't deserve to have that dog or any dog ever.
Talk came up bout getting a new dog. I wanna go to the pound and adopt a puppy. Either a German Shepard or a Terrier. Wanna be able to show it the love it deserves and was shunned of before. I know moping won't bring my old dog back and that we did the best job we could in loving her. Guess now its time for another dog to receive the love that so many are denied of.

d1734- you either are very young, very naive, or have never had a good damn dog...

I have had to go through this several times for my cats over the years. I agree a pet is
the most unconditional love you could ever have. I feel for you Rex, and of course your right about time. It is the most valuable asset we all have. Spend your time as the most valuable thing you have in your life and you will see things differently, so share your time with your family, friends and coworkers and your pets, you will make a diffence to all.

Sorry to hear that bro. At least it isn't suffering anymore, my dog means the world to me and I would cry my ass off if something happened to him.
