Today, as I walked in the streets of my neighborhood I felt like shit.
It was a good morning but, I felt like shit.
I went into a store and bought "Red Bull" so it could pick me up. I finished drinking it and when I did I tossed the can into a trash can near a bus stop.
Ten minutes later a homeless man looked at me and grabbed the can from inside the trash can.
He said, "one man's garbage is another's treasure"
Then, as he said that I thought abot it and I actully felt worst!
I learned two things from the homeless man;
1- Be happy, and treasure what you have. Forget about all the bad shit because it will only make you feel worst and it will make you forget about the things around you that you should be feeling happy about.
2- Nothing ever stays inside a garbage can. No matter what things will always workout and hopefully you will learn something and become stronger mentally.
I hope I did not bore you with this story, but I hope this brings you some form of HOPE for things to come.

Yeah, I'm always learning from homeless people.
I learn that I shouldn't feel guilty for earning a living.
I learn that it's not more "noble" to be a lice-infested drunk sleeping behind a garbage can.
I learn that a proud man does not beg.
I learn that I need to keep my shit together and not give up or I'll end up a lice-infested beggar.

I seen one when I was in Baltimore that had a sign on that read" I ain't gonna lie, I just want a beer." It had drawings of beer cans, martini glasses, ect on it. He wore that while walking down the block singing to people who walk by.

Oak, donate the money to Children's Cancer relief or something. Or to some charity that works with street people. Don't donate to some dirtbag's heroin fund.

I'm with you OAK, but that stopped just about 8months ago. Here in Dallas I gave this dude about 45cents, whatever was in the tray. I came back to that corner about two hours later, because we were out of beer and the guy was walking to his car in the parking lot across the street and he the crutches he was using balanced on his shoulders walking to his car. saw him get in about a 96 or 97 Honda accord and drive off.

I went to the supermarket on Sunday and passed a guy in a wheelchair begging. As I passed, another guy walked by and said to the wheelchair guy, "Hey man, I saw you pushing that wheelchair up the street the other day!"
Guy in the wheelchair just smiled, sheepishly, at me.

I'll admit something very personal..

i was homeless at 17 - 18 years old, however I never begged, but I was always thinking of how I was going to get out of the situation I was in.

DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO THE HOMELESS!!!!!!

If you want to HELP THEM give them food, personal items or clothing.

If you give them money you are only perpetuating the problem that made them homeless. They will buy alcohol or drugs with your money

on payday, if you can swing it, why not just go buy them a bottle of absolute? why not, if that's what makes them happy, let em be happy, god knows they're looked down on constantly, might as well let them not notice it for a few hours.
