In Little league and Scouting,I had some contact with people like these,but I was smart enough to avoid them. Believe me,these people exist everywhere and you cannot stereotype them. As a parent, I excersise constant vigilance.

I have taught my daughters from about age 2 about good and bad touches, about their privacy and how NO ONE is EVER allowed to violate their bodies and that they should ALWAYS respect others in this same fashion. I have constantly reinforced that NO ONE is EVER ALLOWED to touch or talk or make them do or say anything that would make them feel even REMOTELY uncomfortable! I have also taught them that it is ALWAYS ALLOWED and ACCEPTABLE for them to say, "NO" to any request that ANY ADULT or PEER makes of them if they feel even REMOTELY uneasy. I would back them up 100% EVERY SINGLE TIME! I am always reinforcing these lessons as they grow and their lives become more complicated and issues that surround them become less black and white.

I can think of few crimes more horrifying than to strip of child of their innocence in such a devastating fashion. Sad to say I speak from experience and this is among the many things that I want to be different for my daughters.

I can't shield them from the sick bastards that they will undoubtedly encounter, however, it is my hope that if I empower them with knowledge and self-confidence and let them know that no matter what, I will believe them (I also stress the seriousness of these issues and how important it is to be completely truthfull with me at all times - NO MATTER WHAT!) they will be able to emerge from these encounters as stronger individuals. Hopefully, when they encouter these sick mofos, my girls will have helped to hang them out to dry so that they would not be able to do it to some other child. And they will not become victims, but emerge though sadly, a step closer to adulthood, still have their childhood somewhat intact.

I am a public school teacher, but I am not a cliche, one of those guys you read about who get arrested for preying on their students. I know how dangerous that is, and have to be content to "worship from afar". But there are times in my job when I am witness to a sight that really gets my juices flowing.
I run a classroom for students with behavioral problems. Consequently, there are, at times, only one or two kids in there. Today, I had a sweet-faced, slender 11yo. While he was suppose to be reading from his book, I observed him pull his arms through the sleeves of his T-shirt,then slip them casually down passed the waist of his baggy jeans. I then was privileged to watch him do what 11yo's like to do as often as possible; he started playing with his little boy toy! Believe me, I was tempted to offer him a helping hand, but, as I said, I'm not that stupid. I also did not want to embarrass him, so I watch out of the corner of my eye, and looked down when he glanced to see if anyone couls see what he was doing.
He continued to enjoy his little toy for a while longer. When he pulled his arms back out, I went over to check on his "progress". I was greeted with the sight of his obvious enjoyment: his little boy toy was making a nice little tent in his jeans.
Sometimes, the job is worth it!
