Hello,
I am a sociology minor at Flagler College in St. Augustine Florida. I was recently presented with some questions in my Social Theory course. I was hoping that some of you could provide me with some insight and/or resources for these questions........

1. As the guide and driver, imagine being accompanied by Marx, Comte, Spencer, Durkheim, and Weber on a tour of a predominantly black low socio-economical neighborhood. During this tour all of these men were making observations and taking notes. At the completion of this tour these men decide to depart for a while to gather their thoughts on what they observed during the tour but plan on meeting at a local downtown tavern in an hour for a couple of beers. Once you get to the tavern, you are now the passive observer/recorder of the group. Based on what they saw, (the usual characteristics of a predominantly black low socio-economical neighborhood) their intellectual contributions and theories, and the relationships that these men have with one another; what will be their likely points of agreement and disagreement? Who will feud the most? Who will align in their theories? What will they argue or agree upon? Describe the interaction.

2. The Industrial Revolution of the late 19th and early 20th centuries had an important influence on focusing the attention of the prominent writers of social theory on a number of limited topics. As the Industrial Revolution unfolded, major changes in technology, labor, social systems, and institutions were clearly taking place in the Western world. Who were some of these writers and what were the major issues of concern to them?

3. Assess the impact of Darwinian evolutionary theory on the construction of social theory through the early part of the 20th century.

All resources from and dialogue with others will be properly cited within the notes and materials that are turned in with my essays. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
