massage...massage...massage...it may hurt like hell, but thats the only reall relief I've found for them...others that kinda help, hot bath, ice, rest

Shinsplints plagued me the entire time I was on Active Duty.
1.) Lots of stretching of achilles tendon, etc.
2.) Ice
3.) Look into arch supports, orthotics, etc.
My shin splints were caused in part by my overpronation.

FORTUNATELY, I DO NOT HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS, ITS THE GIRL... SOCCER HAS KILLED HER.. ITS SAD TO SEE HER LIMP AROUND AND NOT MAKE IT THROUGH A HAUNTED HOUSE EASILY...

She plays college soccer? Have he go to teh trainer and get some electric stimulation on them, they should be wrapping them with ice after every practice..

I think I have em. If I'm running/walking on the treadmill my shins cramp like a mofo. I dunno what to do for them. Only thing I know to do is use the bike for cardio instead.

the trainers do ice them after every practice, and massage before, but they seem to only be getting worse. the doctors think that's what caused the stress fracture and following broken leg (snapped like a twig) my sophomore year. don't want that to happen. i've got a few more weeks of soccer and then tennis next semester. i can't afford not to play!!

I had to bump AGENT SHAGWELL'S response. Yes, I've had them before, and they hurrrrrrrt baaaaaad! I've woke up from sleep with them killing me. The best things are the hot bath (soak for a while!), then hit the ice, and rest is a must!!! It doesn't do them any good if you don't give them a rest! I know! Good luck to her!
