This Thursday I'm participating in a ride to Dallas.. it will take 4 days, and we're taking the roundabout way there, so about 360 miles total.

Someone just sent me a email that maintaining 15mph (which is what I usually do) costs about 800 cals an hour, and during an 8 hour day I would spend 6400 calories!!!

Perhaps some of the people who have BS degrees or training in this area can verify or not verify the caloric expenditure of biking?

Johnny before I left the inbreed beauty of west virginia I had a couple of buddies, brothers, who are into this kind of event. They would each eat probably 3500 - 4500 calories a day and then they would come back to work and still lose 4 or 5 pounds so this sounds right.

I've ridden 100 miles before, and yes I usually carb up alot the night before, but this is the first time, I'm doing 3 - 100 mile rides back to back, followed by a 60 mile ride.

I better be ripped after this ride!

The acutal route is "secret" because in the past I understand they had trouble with people throwing rocks and stuff in the past -- I don't even know the exact route.

However I know we day 1 is Houston to Navasota, then Navasota to Calvert, Calvert to Hillsboro, and last day Hillsboro to Dallas.

We end at Kennedy Plaza downtown sometime Sunday.
