lets say out of every 10 workouts per muscle group how many of those workouts do you get sore...EX=
chest 8/10
shoulders 0/10 (never)
tris 5/10
bis 4/10
back 3/10
legs 8/10

the weird thing is that this is not the order that my muscles grow..they are going very evenly..does anyone know why this is and should i be getting every muscle sore evertime i work that muscle out??

thanks

This is a very good topic...here is what I have come up with for me

Chest 7/10
Shoulders 1/10 (other activities cause me shoulder soreness.....like running for some reason)
Tris 0/10
bicep 8/10
back 3/10
legs 9/10 (legs are weird...sometimes they will be really sore and other times not....even when I am using the same level of intensity)

About once or twice a week I run 2 miles. Every single time I'll come home with really sore shins, finally last nite I wasn't sore at all after the run, I think i'm developing a better stride. My biceps seem really sore after every workout...I'd say because of preacher curls, and for some reason when I run my shoulders get sore. I'd say that whenever you are sore...that's a good sign that the muscles are growing, but you necessarily don't have to have soreness.

I would have to say that they do lack. They still get very very sore during the workout, just not after it. They are not much when being compared to my bi's. I have a lot of power in my biceps but I don't focus on triceps as much simply because they are the last thing I do. (First chest, then Bi's then Tri) I usually do lying tricep extensions with a 40 lb ez curl bar and then some cable movements. I need to do more sets of them.

I disagree, if you properly warm up you might be stiff after a good workout, but not always sore.

That is a good point Rotten, But at that time what works for me is to change it up!!
Do some negatives or something different to re shock the muscle you are targeting. I mean my goal is to be sore after I lift always. Everyone is different though!

I disagree there Rotten. Warming can help prevent the onset of lactic acid into the muscle being worked. But, if you work out hard enough, especially when cycling juice, you will more than likely always be sore. Reason being is that when we lift we produce micro tears in our muscle fibers and tendons and ligaments... Depending on the intensity and severity of workout and pain thresholds you will get varying degrees of soreness. I know when I cheated myself on a workout day because I will not be sore the next day.

When on a cycle it is even worse at times because of the increased intensity and severity of lifting, but it lasts for shorter periods as the muscles repair themselves much more quickly.

To answer the question, all the time.

Better to ask, how often are they not sore. The number would be way lower for me. he he. I live on Flexagain, glucosamine-chondritan rubs and and my old buddy ATOMIC BALM!
