Your informed vote is important. The next President's responses to the issues below may affect your quality of life, tax rate or even your life span. While campaign promises and statements should be considered with prudent skepticism, they indicate the candidate's most likely political positions. Answer the questions below to determine which candidate most closely matches your political views. A "strongly" response increases the weight of an issue by three times over "somewhat". If a choice is not important or not acceptable to you, select "Neither".

candidates who most closely match my political views are listed first
(100 is a perfect match)

81 Harry Browne
79 George W. Bush
77 Howard Phillips
76 Alan Keyes
67 Patrick J. (Pat) Buchanan
57 John Hagelin
23 David McReynolds
19 Ralph Nader
18 Albert Gore Jr. (imagine my surprise)

One note: I voted to really pump up the defense money and this would seem very contrary to the views of McReynolds. Must be my liberal support in the Moral issues, Public Schools, Environmental Protection and for God Sakes...some form of Trade restrictions

#6: John Hagelin (53%)

Good quiz: I hadn't examined Phillips or Keyes before. I dig on teh Constitution Party, except I am against Phillips' and Keyes' drug stances. I support decriminalization.

Wodin,

Why are you against school choices and vouchers?

Schools have become virtually autocratic - they get tons of governement money already, and there is considerable misappropriation of funds.

I don't want to prejudice your answer though by inflaming the discussion - I'd rather just hear what you have to say on the issue.

Matt

well a year ago a friend of mine got me looking into the Libertarian party...I like the overall message and the issues their website covered, my only concern would be if they could fund the military in defending us and I wonder how safe it would really be for us to pull our military forces from all over the world....

Bush was top on my quiz but I would rather vote for Browne(2nd) just based on his principles...
