I do both. There are times when I want a CD (to play in the car or give to a friend), but sometimes I just want to listen to the mp3.

Did you check out that sony music clip?

Personally, I don't like portable MP3 players. A good one costs you what? Like $200 1 hour of music? Then if you want another memory cartridge it's like another $200... not worth it in my opinion. Get yourself a REALLY REALLY good portable CD player (like the kind that you could throw against a wall and then punt across the room and it STILL won't skip), get yourself a CD burner (I bought my 8x for $230) and make your own CDs... 74 minutes of music for a little over $1.00 per CD is much better than 64 minutes for $200 per memory cartridge.

Ok cracker, here's what you do, you get the mp3 player, now i understand warik's argument, but it doesn't take into account the creative nomad jukebox with a 6gb memory and it's the size and shape of a normal cd player and it's only 400$ USD!!!!
www.nomadworld.com or you can buy it on amazon.com

You're right, E2. I don't take that into account. I have never heard of that device until you just mentioned it. Dude, ignore everything I just said... get the Nomad. =)
