Do you guys think it's safe to eat a steak that's been wrappped in foil for like 5 hours? I work out in the oilfields, and we're nowhere near a microwave or fridge. I need my protein and calories, but I don't want to get food poisoned either...

As long as you keep it in a cooler at a fairly cold temperature(36-46 degrees) it will be fine to eat.Just dont let it sit out in room temperature too long or it will spoil.

Its safe to eat cold meat, hot meat, room temperature meat or whatever just as long as its cooked and hasnt been sitting out all day. I would keep it in a cooler or something just for good measure.

Hey, they've got these new things out called ice cubes. They work great at keeping your food cold. I also hear there are boxes called coolers but I haven't seen them yet. J/K. Plus the cold food will cause your body to burn calories to heat it up to body temp.

Its all in the nose, raw and cooked meat have a distinct smell when bad.Just take a good whiff and you will know if its good to eat.5 hours in foil should be no problem to a cooked piece of meat.I'd eat it no problem.

Sweetie, I hope that you keep your food in a cooler at work to begin with and if you do and have those Ice Packs in it, the you shouldn't have a problem. But if you still want the protein and can't have steak, because of spoilage why not just throw a can opener in there and just take lots of tuna in a can. Tuna can't go bad if it isn't opened.

Steak doesn't spoil as fast as chicken or fish either, so you should smell it before you digest it.
