What's up everybody! I've been researching this procedure, "RK". Radial Karotography (sp) or something like that and was wondering if anyone has had the procedure? Also, heard about some surgery where they insert a corrective ring around the cornea. Anyone had any luck with any of these surgeries?

Any help is much obliged.

Ragin out.

I have the Lasik done. Cost 5K but worth it. I was -4 and -4.75. I'm 20/20 now. If you're sick of glasses got for it. But make sure you have a reputable doctor.

Did you have any side effects? My concern is that this is "experimental", deemed relatively safe, but the long term effects are unknown. Do you have eye pains? Do you have to use eye drops for crusting or what have you?

My cousin Ricky had that done, his turned out great, he was -5, now 20/20... But my other cousin Stephanie, her friend Kevin got it and the doc screwed up somehow. Ragin', make sure you talk to some people who have had the doc, you know testimonials...

Price should not be an issue. My guy Dr. Mandle in NYC was one of the first to ever work with Lasik. He's done over 3000 surgeries. No pain my eyes just get more dry but I put drops in & they are fine.

The best place to get laser eye surgery is in Canada. They have been using the procedure for nearly a decade longer than the United States, and I read that 90% of the top laser eye surgeons are in Canada. Best part? They avoid a lot of the "middlemen" fees in the U.S., so you end up paying a LOT less.. saying $1000 TOTAL for the operation. Even if you factor is airfare and a 3 night stay in a hotel (they have to run you through a battery of tests to make sure you are a candidate), you make out for the better. Check them out. Joe

Have to agree that right now the best place is Canada.
Price is dropping dramiatically in the US recently because of a new procedure that is comming out that will correct the + vision too.
In my area - Salt Lake City - it is down to about 2500 for both. But I see advertisements that take you to Canada with a travel guide.
Check the Travel Places in your area for this.
Great results from 3 people who have had it done. BF is having his done this fall after hunting season.
Good luck

Thanks for all the great feedback guys.

Must say that I don't know if I'd trust any Canadian with my eyes, though. J/K. There are a coupla' reputable places around my area (DC), so it might be time to cash in on one of those free consultations. Still worried about side effects...

m2 - what happened to Kevin? Is he suing the doctor, or did he have to sign a release before the operation? Tell more.

Well RA, as a matter of fact, after the surgery Kevin was able to hire a lawyer to sue the bad doctor. However, dumb ass Kevin hired Siantz and Kirk instead of the (in my opinion) better lawyer dream team of greenburg and bedRman. I don't have to tell you how the case turned out, but lets just say Kevin still can't see too good.
