Question Bros, When on gear do you rest the same time as when you are off gear or you don't have to rest? Also how much do you rest? Because I don't know if I am resting enough. I rest one day per week and back to the gym. I am on a 4 day training schedule now. Do I need more rest?

I lift 4-5 days per week. When you are resting, that is when you are actually growing. As long as your muscles are recuperating then you can train 6 days a week. This one is very subjective. You have to find what works for you.

I posted in another thread that I read about a pro who takes a week off during every cycle he does because he feels the rest & total recovery gives him time to grow.....

FC I guess that make sense when you are off the gear. But when you on gear I think you should train as hard as you can right?

no, he said he does it mid cycle....he said such an intense increase in training while on sauce leads him to believe a weeks rest time helps recovery & growth for the second half of the cycle...makes sense.

At last.....a decent topic. You're right FC. When I finish a cycle, I usually take 2 weeks off. To tell you the truth, I do all my cycles while I'm off-season. I give myself 14 weeks of training and dieting before a show. I'm off the sauce during those 14 weeks, but I do take diuretics. I call it my "cleansing period". I gradually decrease my poundages anyway since I am cutting up and doing a shitload of cardio. Juice isn't really necessary during that time.

So bacially what I am hearing is that when you are on sauce you train hard and then take 1 to 2 weeks off. For the muscle to build. How long do do you rest on sauce then?

I can't say I totally understand the resting while ON. I think it might be more effective to rest more when you are NOT ON. When we are on AS we recover quicker correct? I know when Im on a good cycle I never feal anywhere near as sore as when I am off. I consider this to be quicker recovery time therefore less rest. no?

correct, you do recover quicker while on, but as I said, it is something I read, just one pros idea, not written in stone....I thought it sounded interesting, not too bad of an idea.....you grow when you rest, and since you want to make the most of your cycle, I think it is a good way to totally refresh yourself for the second half since your body is handeling so much more on as then it is used to. My .02

no, I here you, we need to toss around ideas...and I love hearing what pros do. Maybe if I was on a longer cycle that would make more sense, but imagine a 12 week cycle. If you only work 1 body part per week thats 12 times - thats crazy that 12 workouts could produce such dramatic results. anyway if the cycle was more like 16 weeks and up I could see a nice break in the middle, probably would be great for you actually.

hey slopain, you gotta look at it like this though. when you train a bodypart one time a week, thats directly training it. now think of all the indirect stimulation it is getting with working other bodyparts. i know i wont do shoulders near chest time or back near legs time. the exercises would indirectly hit the muscle just trained. you have to look at your training and what exercises you use. if you deadlift on back day, dont plan on doing legs for a little while after. same goes for chest, shoulders etc. just my .02 on it. its how i try to do it.

Thats a good point BigNate...on my very first cycle I never directly trained traps, and those mf's were getting huge in comparison to the rest of my upper body.
