They say dextrose is the best post workout carb to spike insulin and increase creatine uptake. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good food source for dextrose...

Go to your local beer store, or health food store - they should have bulk dextrose for very cheap. I wouldn't rely on finding it in food, it's much easier and cheaper (less than $2/lb) to just buy it in bulk.

Best time is post-workout. How much? Depends on many things; how big are you? Are you taking creatine with it? Are you taking alpha lipoic acid with it? Usually, 50g dextrose, which = 50g simple carbs is good stacked with 20-30g protein and about 5g creatine. If you want the most out of insulin, a better option might be to take your lean body mass in kg and use that number for grams of dextrose, combined with around 30g whey protein and 5-10g creatine. 100-200mg Alpha Lipoic Acid is also good - it will insure that the carbs get shuttled to your muscles by increasing their insulin sensitivity, instead of your fat cells. MuscleTech's CellTech uses 75g dextrose, 200mg ALA and 10g creatine, but that may be too much for some people and not enough for others. 30g dextrose by itself, or 50g with 20-30g whey is enough to transport 5g creatine. Use the kg LBM technique to figure out how much, and make sure to eat solid protein and carbs an hour later (one hour after your workout is complete, since I'm assuming you'll take the dextrose post-workout), as the dextrose and whey will be completely absorbed by then, and cortisol will kick in if you don't get more nutrients.
