If your not active all day 2500 cal/per day is maintence, if you are active all day then up to 3800 cal/per day is maintence. Start at 2000 per with 30 to 40% coming from complete Proteins. get about 55% from Complex Carbs and the rest from fat. Do your fish and flaxseed oil for main sources of fat. Watch your body's reaction and adjust your calories accordingly. Mix your protein with water only,(you can add a Tbsp of flaxseed oil in to your shakes) that milk has lactose in it which is a sugar, it tends to take away from the cuts...good luck IP: Logged |

Dabb, if you are seriously considering a keto diet (which is what I'm on right now), don't just jump into it without doing some serious reading first! If you are concerned with maintaining, or even GAINING muscle mass while achieving very low bodyfat percentages, the cyclical ketogenic diet (CKD) or targeted ketogenic diet (TKD) are probably your best bets. Pick up Mauro Di Pisquale's "Anabolic Diet", Dan Duchaine's "Body Opus", or Lyle McDonald's "Ketogenic Diet" or check out some of Lyle's info on the net (there's plenty out there). As for milk, don't even think about it on a keto diet. To be in ketosis, you have to keep your total carb grams to around twenty per day! That basically encompases your eggs, mayo, cheese and the cream in your coffee! Fat should be around 65-70% of your calories to maintain a proper ketogenic ratio. Protein doesn't have to be much higher than 25-30%, because ketosis is anti-catabolic, especially if you carb load on the weekend. IP: Logged |
