This is my first weekend of the carb load on the anabolic diet(Dr. DiPasquale), Oh my god..!!! I feel like a blimp. I am just so bloated it's not even funny..! My fingers and even swolen. Saturday afer my full body pump, on went home and feasted on whole wheat bread and lentil soup(3 bowls). After about an hour I was just starving and I ate a ton of carbs. I ate alot of clean carbs(lentils, yogurt, apples, whole wheat bread) not junk like pizza, cookies, fried foods and shit like that. By the end of the day I felt like shit...I was so tired I just crashed..I woke up around 10:00 p.m. and took down a couple of huge sandwiches and some milk. This morning I woke up feeling like a bloated pig still. I hit the gym and blasted chest and then did some cardio too. I got a good pump but it wasn't the greatest. I still felt like a bloated hog..!! Now I am still retaining alot of water and my face is real puffy. Is all of this supposed to happen? I can't go through this every weekend..???!!@@##?? What do you guys think of this? I am thinking about going back to my good diet of just high protein, moderate clean, good fat, and low, post workout carbs only. What do you guys think, should I keep this going or switch back? When is this water gonna go away too....?? Anyone else on this diet..?

I havent done a lot of research on the anabolic diet but i think it's similar or its another form of the ketogenic diet.I am on a ket diet right now where carbs are kept extremely low for 5 days and then following a full body depletion i start a carb-up where i eat many carbohydrates.Usualy during the carb-up i gain a lot of water weight nearly 7-10 pounds. This weight however completely dissapears by tuesday. You just have to make sure that you dont over due it so that you dont add fat during the weekend.
You should try a search there are many posts on these types of diets.

Try cleaning up your carb load.
While I like Dr. DiPisquale's stuff for the most part, I have to give Dan Duchaine credit for giving guidelines as to how much/what kind of carbs to load with [Duchaine actually goes a bit too far with the strict carb load he proposes, unless you're competing].

Try finding a copy of Duchaine's Body Opus for some guidelines regarding the carbup. ie as soon as you see ANY water retention, STOP!

This web site
http://www.voicenet.com/~petrizzi/fitness/ckdcalc.html

has a calculator telling you how many grams/when to load with, but you may want to go lower, since the calculator might be assuming a BodyOpus-type deplition workout which would enlarge your capacity for glycogen supercompensation.

I switched diets now anyways. I went to the animalbolics style diet. I eat my carbs now only immediatley after my workout. That's it..the rest of the day is high protein, a little fat, and some cardio at night. It's working great for me so far. I like this better that those keto style diets.
