I have never tried this sort of training before but do you think it is an effective training regimen for weight loss? I dont feel comfortable lifting weights and want to try something different.

you don't feel comfortable around guys staring at you? there are gyms that have women only sections for just that reason. you can also get your own set at home or try a crossfit style gym where a good chunk of females are the clientale so you won't feel uncomfortable

Gyms in general can be an uncomfortable experience for a new comer. Most people feel like they need to compare themselves to others there, or that they are being judged. It's a tough problem, especially if you are self-conscious, and if you are more comfortable starting working out at home with whatever program, I say go for it. Just be consistent and stick with it.
