lifting vs cardio for females weight loss

Hi boys, well, title says it all, I'm a single mom of 2 kids, I'm 40 and I would like to lose about 20 lbs, I don't really like to ask people ate the gym but I would like to know between cardio and lifting what's better to lose those extra pounds combining with a diet, thank you very much.
 
Muscle is metabolic which means you will burn more calories if you have more muscle so you should do both. Being a single mum would keep you busy so cardio will burn more calories in the time you have which sounds to be limited.

Why don't you split the days you train between weights and cardio. One day weights and the other cardio. You will get a mix of both in a week.

Most importantly, get your diet on track and you'll never look back. That's the most important and will make the biggest impact to your goal.
