How important is sleep

I only average about 4-5 hours sleep a night. Is that enough? I feel alright I just keep reading how important it is to get 7-8 hours so I’m not sure?

I can almost guarantee that is not enough.
Sleep is something you can't over emphasize. Once you start compromising you are gonna out yourself in a very detrimental situation and it's gonna take a toll on your health and well-being.

sleep is very important.. when you are in a deep sleep that is when your body repairs and recovers at the cellular level. yes that means if you don't sleep enough you will gain less muscle and gain more fat

it will have long term effects on everything from your fitness goals, to your thinking skills, to mental health, to aging. also the bad news is although you can 'sleep in' on the weekends and make some sleep back, that strategy has been shown to not work long term. so you must get CONSISTENT SLEEP, not 4 hours one night.. 6 the next.. and then 12 on the weekends.

if you feel okay getting only a few hours a night of sleep you are likely bipolar of have some sort of mental health issue going on but on the inside it is very detrimental for your health.

The normal hours of sleep decreases as you age if I remember correctly, but for most adults, 4-5 hours just isn't enough. When an ex slept that many hours a day, it was a manifestation of a manic episode, although you did not indicate you are bipolar.

You may not feel tired because you're used to it without realizing you are sleep deprived. A few unsolicited tips: keep the bed for only two activities starting in S (sleep and sex), stay away from your phone some hours before sleep, make the bedroom as comfortable as much as possible. For ours we added an air purifier, and you can go through this if you're interested, but it's really up to you. You might even go check a sleep specialist if you're that concerned.
