A friend needs help

one of my friend wants to lose some weight. She's around 5'5, and 145lbs. she wants to get less than 125. Personally, i dont know anything about female weight training or anything at all. so i can't help her out. i told her to watch her diet and all that. but what kind of exercises should she be doing. she said she runs for 30mins/day. but she doesnt know anything about weight training to lose weight. should it be low weight and high reps or what??? she has never been in a gym before so she doesnt know anything about cardio or weights. can anyone help me out? thanks.
 
I was a heiffer for a while LOL due to having 3 kids in 11 years so I would say do more cardio and do high reps with some heavy weight/medium reps days. I cross-train a lot, too, so my body is always "shocked."
