Could a vaginal infection effect getting pregnant?

a couple I know are trying to get pregnant, she went to the doctor and she has a vaginal infection, the doctor said it shouldn't effect anything, but I have always heard different.

can someone chime in and help?

It might not neccessarily prevent her from getting, but I would wait until the infection clears. The beginning stages of pregnancy are the most important, most delicate. Any kind of infection in there will not be good for the cells as they divide. I would advise to wait until the infection clears before trying to get pregnant. ALSO, tell her to take lots of Folic acid....it helps to prevent birth defects. Best of luck to them!
