wrist problems from preacher curl

I have been doing this movement for 4 months already I see some good progress but it's causing insane pain in my wrists, is that normal or am I
doing something wrong when I work out, how about using wrist straps? would they help a little bit?
 
Using wrist straps will only make your wrists weaker, and consequently more prone to injuries. If it is causing you pain, why not take a break from this exercises, and let your wrists recover for a bit. Perhaps you just overloaded them. In the meantime, do some other exercises that don't cause pain in the wrists.
 
The preacher curl with a straight bar is a very unnatural movement to put your wrists in. Experiencing wrist pain is completely normal.

Switch to an EZ-curl bar or use dumbbells.
