what's the best non-running exercise for stamina building?

elliptical? bike? rowing machine? swimming?

my gym doesn't have a pool and my shin splints are coming back a little, so i need to find another way to train rather than running
 
Jump Rope, or Shadow box. When i shadow box and move around i sweat like a mother fucker and my heart rate is flying. if you move around you will also build some strenght. Just some different type of cardio. And oh yeah, the jope rope, cant beat the jump rope
 
The correct answer is 'biking.'

A 'flying' HR is not helpful to building stamina. Jumping rope might be ok but I don't think it's sustainable (can you jump rope for 30 minutes straight?). It will also cause the same issues with his shin splints.

I think he abandoned this question.
 
Jumping rope is what gave me shin splints so I don't think that's the right exersize.
 
Spinning classes are good - but they often don't last more than an hour - most are 30 mins right? But it's a start.
