what is crossift exactly?

I ran into a buddy of mine at the supermarket and he looks really good, i asked him what he has been doing and he smiled and said crossfit. I had heard of it before but wasn't sure what it was all about, can you guys kinda give me the info on how it differs from weight training and if it is good

Oh and I know it's running around different like bench and treadmill but how does it work? seems dangerous

The facts that their standard exercises, what they refer to as chins and deadlifts, are so rediculously out of even decent for, is more than enough to write them off as ego driven nonsense..,

Google it, watch some videos, check out a gym, give it a try. That is how you learn about it. I have never done it because it seems like an easy way to get injured.
