Arnold has excellent genetics (except for his heart vavle defect.)

Frank Zane did wonders with, perhaps, less then excellent genetics.

I have met and spoken to a guy who was present in the gym when a teenage Arnold first walked into a gym and was closely involved with Arnolds early years of bodybuilding. He has some very interesting stories to tell. He said that on that first visit to a gymnasium Arnold appeared to have the WORST genetics for bodybuilding that you have ever seen. Narrow bottle shoulders, skinny legs , no calves, NOTHING. Interesting how we stand here now and say that Arnold had the best genetics. Possibly 'genetics is not the most accurate term for this discussion. Personally speaking some of the most genetically gifted people I've ever seen have been sitting under 40 pounds of fat in a public bar (and there they choose to remain). You will never know until you try.

I agree, IMO I believe that there are far more of those genetically gifted mesomorphs walking around, just most people never learn how to feed themselves properly, train properly, and are not motivated to do so!

Before the terrible ban of healthy food, MacD's hit the scene, it may have been possible to see the good genetics in a teenager, now, the majority of young people are also incredibly unfit!! I don't mean to blow my own horn, I just realised this coming into BB and doing some reading, but I have the lucky genetics! I may even be one of those 'pure' mesomorph types. But I could post pics when I was a chubbette, and downright 'fat'. I have always been naturally muscular, now just pushing my genetics to the max, naturally. Well, I am the Queen of IOC allowed supplements, LOL

Bro, u cant be serious about arnold being a pro today. thats ridiculous. secondly bbing is about being a freak. and if you thing that bbing is about sex appeal then you got some misconseptions. but i dont want to make this a personal arguement since i dont know u and u dont know me. bottom line is arnold had a little over the avarage genetics. :)

BB is a bit like soft porn, and yes BB has become a bit about the freaky genetic guys, however, there is that debate going on, should size dominate over physique? You can see that Cutler and Coleman really cut their waists down, I like my men BIG, and they look great from the front, but those massive glutes and slab of meat backs, no, that is a bit YUCK!

Frank Zane had great genetics, PERFECT MESOMORPH, looked like Michaelangelo's David carved in flesh!!!

I say among male BBs, Dorian Yates and Lee Haney. Their physiques looked very thick and impressive. And on the women's side, who else, the legendary Cory Everson. That lady could have won more Ms. O's had she stayed!

Flex Wheeler gets my vote. Symmetry, great muscle bellies, separation...

Just out of curiosity, where would you rank Dave Prowse?

I think it's amazing that he stayed in proportion despite being seven-plus feet tall -- and this is in 1959. Not stretched like a basketball player or blown up like Andre the Giant.
