I wonder if training for body building is the same type of training you have to do for strength, I will be competing in a benching contest in 8 months from now, I do currently 270 and my goal is 300, I wonder is training is the same or what type of training do you recommend to gain strength, thank you.
 
Training for size and training for hypertrophy is completely different.

Size - main goal is training the nervous system and focusing on the 3-5 rep range

Hypertrophy - main goal is blood volume and focusing on the 8-12 rep range

Most bodybuilders are very weak, despite being so muscular. Likewise, a lot of powerlifters aren't very muscular, despite being incredibly strong.
