Excerpt: What do you think about the training advice where if you want to cut down you should do high reps and faster sets vs. If you want to bulk up and get stronger you should do low reps and slow sets?     training myths?

    What do you think about the training advice where if you want to cut down you should do high reps and faster sets vs. If you want to bulk up and get stronger you should do low reps and slow sets? Someone told me this today at the gym and seemed to make sense, but not sure if its true or not

    If you want to cut down and get lean the best way is high reps low weight like max out your pumps and a lot of volume is good

    that is pretty cookie cutter advice and it can work but it isn't a black and white thing

    that style of training has more to do with who is doing them and why rather then the training itself

    Use low weights and high reps if you are looking to lean out

    If this was true the faster sports would have athletes which are super lean. Diet works better

    Change in diet will have a much bigger impact than the amount of reps you do and at what weight.
