Training Board Monthly PR post

Excellent work, what does your training look like? 5x5 still?

Thanks. Actually I've changed the 5x5 into something a little different right now and I'm making some good gains. What I have been doing is 3x5, followed by a drop in weight and a set of 8 reps. Here's an example from last week
squat
420lbs 3x5, 320lbs 1x8,
then I finish up with some higher rep stuff on the hack squat. I've been gaining weight consistently since I started this approach so I'm happy

CoolColJ, good workout, I especially love the "no belt ass to the floor", that's what it's all about bro

9/27/02 - 44" Chain Suspended Wide Stance GM - 510 Pounds

10/11/02 - 44" Chain Suspended Wide Stance GMs - PR 535 Pounds

Next week I'll move back down to 36" or maybe even lower....

315x3 with red bands tied to the bottom.

got buried under a standard 365 last week so i figured this would be a good way to break that shit.

i'm new to band training but it felt really cool since i tend to be very strong up top and a bitch in the hole.

:D

How's it feel Bignate? Thinking about getting a pair, which ones you get?

i used the ones with handles that most aerobics rooms have. hehehe. the red bands. just double loop it and its pretty good. not like PL'er bands but they worked for that little workout.

Heaviest weights used in training yesterday - none of them to failure

70 degree bent over barbell rows - overhand grip 205lbsx6
185x6 (3 sec pause at the bottom of each rep)

Weighted Shoulder width grip chins on a power rack (partial grip)
+17.5 lbs x6 , +10lbs x 6 (3 sec pause at the bottom of each rep)

Lats, forearms and grip strength are really blowing up from these!
The grip type gives you way stronger lat contraction.

the grip is practically like an "L" shaped grip. neat huh. it really forces you to drive your elbows down instead of pulling with your biceps. i know i know! :)
