Stiff-Legged DeadLifts

Core

New member
Can someone explain how stiff-legged deadlifts work the hamstrings. It seems to me that when the hamstrings are
used their function is to raise the lower leg as in the leg
curl exersice. Am I missing something here? Stiff-legged
deadlifts doesnt seem to have any of this motion at all. So
how are the hamstrings being used?

The hamstring is a multi-joint muscle, involving both the hips and the knees. Do SLDL's and you will feel it in your hams. Just try it.

Like the Dude said, the hamstrings work around more than one joint because they are attached to more than one joint; the hips(their function here is hip extension like a stiff leg deadlift) and the knees(where there function is knee flexion like a leg curl).Supposedly,to get complete development of the hamstrings, you should do both types of movements.

If you doing STDL and don't feel it on the hamstrings then you're doing it wrong. Non of my friends can do them cause they just have no lifting experience and don't know how to feel their own muscle.
