Squatting: Front of my hips hurt

AirWolf

New member
When I squat whatever the muscle is that runs up the front of my hips, where they bend really hurts. Its not an injury pain, but a muscular pain. The same thing happens when I'm sprinting on a bike. I've noticed it a bit in the past, but now I'm doing light weight work with high reps and its really killing me.

Any ideas if I'm doing something wrong or if I just need to strengthen the muscle? And how would I go about strengthening it?

Thanks.

Maybe the inductor and abductor machines can strengthen them. Also lunges, or even leg raises will strenthen your hip muscles. If it seems like a muscle pain, it may be because you havent actually hit that particular muscle in a long while, if ever. Have you changed techniques or your stances when doing squats?

I started going really deep into the squat about a month ago, other than that - no real changes. Guess I just need to keep working on it.

you need to stretch your hip flexors.

I'll make sure to give them an extra stretch next time and see what happens

Thanks.
